There have been several discussions lately about tanks. Do you want a side fill, rear fill, bed fill, 18 gals, more than 18, EFI or carbed motor, I did a 18 gal. Camaro EFI tank with a rear fill. There are aluminum ones that fit between the rear cross members. So really the best tank is the one that fits your budget and truck.

Late 80's 2 door s10 blazer. Less than $100 rockauto. That is what I used on my 53 LS.

External pumps are loud and finicky about low fuel levels sometimes. I'd suggest finding an oem style replacement tank/ with an in tank oem pump/ sender that fits. It will be cheaper and work like it was designed for it, because it was.

For my TBI 350 I found a s10 tank/sender/pump from the same era that fit well. late 80s s10 blazer. I think I have about a hundred bucks in the set up...all new parts from rock auto. You need one from a later donor that puts out efi pressure.

The 47-48 and 47-53 panel truck tanks are something to look in to. You can get the tank out of the cab. They won't work on 54/55 trucks.

I never have liked the tanks that you have to fill in the bed floor.

I like the blazer tank, how do you fill it though?

I've heard of guys using mustang tanks behind the axle of AD trucks.

I kind of thought the late 40's/early 50's Chevy car tanks might be worthwhile looking into. You could probably fill them from the side.

I used a 16 gal poly tank from speedway motors. Topfill, fill through the bed. Bought the fuel tank mounting straps. Welded some tubing to the frame crossmember, welded the top half of the strap to the tubing and bolt the tank in. Im on a s10 frame tho too.

An external electric fuel pump is not loud and noisy if you isolate it from the frame you are attaching it to using rubber isolation strips as well as rubber grommets for the bolts and screws. We constructed a small metal mounting platform (which we welded to the frame) and attached the fuel pump to it (which we isolated from the mounting platform using rubber strips and rubber grommets). Photos tell the complete story.
