I"ve just picked up a 71 GMC 1ton that has been converted to a duelly, it was done long ago but who ever did the job did it well. it has 4" duelly fenders protruding from the bed like a step side rear fenders. my question is... did GM make molding for step side fenders??? I would like to 2 tone paint the thing but havent found any molding for the rear fender section. Help anyone!!!

More correctly, there were no factory stepside bed or fender moldings. However 67-70 stepsides could be ordered with cab only lower moldings as applicable.

I feel a little silly now... I guess GMC made a few of theses things. mine is a 1 ton duelly and I thought the duelly fenders were an owner add on, But then I found another one here on the forum with the same shallow fenders on a none step side bed, to acomidate the out side tires. Mine is also an extended bed.. It's 8' 10" or very close to that. It has a factory extention between the cab and the bed.. It has the factory 396 in it..Or the 402. the valve covers say Invader 400 on them, and after an hour of putting new points in it and fuel.. fired right up and purrs. But I am bummed about the no molding issue, I'll have to look at other paint options..by the way.. how do you attach photoes to your posts?

Sounds like you have a 133" wheelbase 1 ton with a Longhorn bed. We need to see pics ASAP.

Should be a chassis-cab with an added bed or the GMC equivalent of a Longhorn with added dual wheels. The VIN or model number would tell the story fast.

Welcome to the site. The other truck you saw was modified,just like yours. GM built it's first dual rear wheel Fleetside/Wideside in '73,which is when 1t pickups went to the same wheelbase as 1/2t and 3/4t trucks.

well, here is what I have. like I said, i would love to paint this in a 2 tone like a lot of other full bed rigs are painted, but the small duelly fenders will impeed that. the truck is missing the radiator but that is all that is keeping it off the road. i have started it and moved it into the shop. so everything is working on it.

With a little heat, you can bend the moldings to wrap around the dually flares. I had planned to try this with my '67 dually with the '67 - 68 trim. Here's one that had it done.

They are definitely different. GM never made dually pickups, so the ones you see have been conversions, and that's why you don't see too many of them. Here are a few more for you:
