71 front end on c10 will other spindles work

i have a 54 chevy 3100 its has a 67 c10 frame with a 71 disc brake setup...im looking for drop spindles , will only 72-71 spindles work or can i go newer years...thanks for the help...

You can use '73-'87 spindles by changing out the upper ball joints to the same. '71-'72 uses the same lower ball joint as the '73-'87, which are pressed in. The uppers were riveted in, but the replacements come with 4 bolts to replace them. From what I understand, GM went to a larger ball in the upper ball joint in '73 and thus increased load capacity. If you are in a position to replace any ball joints while doing the spindle swap, it may be something to consider.

You will also have to change your 71-72 outer tie rod to a 73-87 version if you use 73-87 spindles.
