Re: got new wheels

I have a stupid question about the 19.5's. Are you guys wanting them just because they are visually a bigger rim? A 225/70/19.5 tire is about 31.4" diameter. I have 285/75/16's on my dually now and they are about. 32.8' dia. Just trying to see the difference in buying the bigger rims verse buying taller 16" tires. Again this may be a stupid question but would like your insight on why choosing a 19.5.

Yea they are visually bigger more rim less tire and the tires last close to 100,000 miles soughta like this dually.

It's the tires. 19.5s are a whole different class. They are a true truck tire and will last as long as you want to keep the truck, unlike 16 inch tires. They're particularly good if you pull heavy as the added safety margin on the weight rating makes them almost overkill.

Also, every dually wheel I have ever sandblasted was an Accuride brand wheel. Even the factory 16s on my cab and chassis are Accurides.

On the flip side of this is they'll ride like a truck tire for every single one of those miles. Might be a little more noticeable in a production vehicle vs a larger truck.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Thanks guys. I had that thought cross my mind just wasn't sure. What size of tire is good for these squares on the 19.5's.

I haven't sandblasted any wheels myself, but I had observed this myself when washing them. Also, the steelies on my Dad's 2011 K3500 DRW are still made by Accuride.

Re: got new wheels

Since tires and sizes/costs/options have been mentioned I'm gonna post up this link: Rickson Wheel Manufacturing - 19.5" TRUCK TIRES I appreciate the table they have of various manufacturers and specs.

Re: got new wheels

You need to run the tire pressures recommended on the sidewall of the tire. Half sized tires don't seat securely on the bead like regular tires. They need the air pressure to keep the bead seated to the rim.
