You must have some free tires. You are going to lose your hubcaps. If you are buying tires there is always a30x9.50 or 31 or 32 x 10.50's to put more meat on the rims. If you have some cheap 16's with rims they should fit easy enough.

Re: tire and wheel change over questions

Oh, so you do some heavy towing? I have always wanted to have some 16" 5 lug steelies made for my half tons so I could run 235/85r16 tires and still keep my hubcaps. I have never found any already made though. I have seen 235/75r15 tires abused beyond belief when I worked in a grain warehouse. We used to load a ton of grain on 1/2 ton trucks and never heard of a blown tire but it is definitely not safe and the distances were short.

If you haul or tow heavy loads then you probably do need some 16's. I think you will have to go with an aftermarket wheel. I did buy some 5 lug 16" D spoke NASCAR style wheels for my truck but ended up selling them in the boxes before I got to try them. Those are usually less than $100/wheel. Actually Summit sells aluminum wheels for about $100/wheel.

The 245/75-16 tire will fit with no problem.

Re: tire and wheel change over questions

its not so much i plan on doing heavy hauling but better to go over kill on load rating then go under rating. i'm sure that 454 puts a lot of weight on tires alone. plus in 2015 i'm going to look at doing a 5k mile trip and it would be nice to have a good set of 10 ply tires when hauling an ATV and a travel trailer for that long mile. I guess I just drove truck for 2 1/2 years no longer drive semi but learned in that 2 1/2 years better to go over kill on tires and not need the over kill then to need the better tires and be stuck in the middle of no where
