wheel/tire question

so I've been searching for a set of wheels for my project - 1969 c10 step side. It has the 71 rear axle in it so its not the shorter one. Its also bagged w/ porter built stuff and 3/4" body drop. My question is this - i have found some discontinued american racing wheels but can only get them in a 20x9.5. the price is right but will they fit and tuck under? the rockers are about 1" or so off the deck when aired out. i think the backspace is 5.75 on them and the offset is a +15. I don't mind skinny tires but just want them to fit.

I doubt they will fit front or rear.

YOU should be the one that knows if they will fit or not.
Break out the tape measure and check.

Most Porterbuilt Extreme Dropmember equipped trucks run a 8.5" wide wheel up front with 5.25"-5.75" BS.
There is not enough info to know for sure.
Standard a-arm length?
Narrowed a-arms?
Inboard rear bag mounts?
Standard rear bag mounts?
Tubbed stepside bed?

I know you want an easy answer,... so I will say no they won't fit,... with the info you have posted.

ok let me throw some more info. I don't have the body on the truck - I'm at bare frame finishing the suspension, brakes, ls swap and diff so measurements are hard to do now.

Using the porterbuilt "touring" drop rear setup with the standard outboard bags and the stock front crossmember with porters bag kit and 2" cpp modular drop spindles w/ standard a-arms. bed is uncut and id like to keep it that way. Im not a fan of the tubbed stepsides. my fleet side will def be tubbed.

I was assuming that they wouldn't fit and that id be stretching to tuck 8.5's but the cost of the 4 wheels is under $500 so just was wishful thinking that they would work. Wonder how hard it is to cut them down and make em skinnier? But those $3000 forgeline wheels look awful nice. . . .

All of this should have been in the first post.
I'm not sure how your rockers will be as you quoted,...
1" or so off the deck when aired out when your stock front crossmember will be hitting the pavement first.
I assumed you had a Dropmember.
That's all in the past with the current info.

Stepsides have a small rear fender.
Unless you tub the bed there is no room for anything larger than a 8.5"-9" rear wheel with the correct backspacing.
I know that the wider 71-72 rearends will work with a 8.5" wide wheel with a 5.25" backspace.

Get your truck together and then measure for wheels.
I'm not sure why everyone wants to buy wheels first.
In my opinion,... they shoud be the LAST item purchased.

Careful! I run 285 17 R60's on my 67 stepside on 10 inch rear rims with a 5.25 in backspace and they DO fit! To be sure, they are close to fenders and the bedside but they do not rub. That is a tall tire, (31 inches ) so your advice about leaving wheels and tires for last is very good advice.

Your info is great for a static dropped truck with tires that are close to the sheetmetal rear fenders.
But there is no way they would tuck INSIDE the stepside fenders on an air'd out bagged truck.
We have to compare apples to apples here.

i only want to get the wheels so i can set the body at the right height if i have to make any changes. forgot to put in the other post it has porter's body drop. front member is not on the ground but want to check with the wheels. with the big wilwoods i put on it front and rear, the stock wheels won't work. ill adjust the theoretical bottom with the accuair and sensors. I may have found a full set of 8.5's so ill see tomorrow what they gonna cost me.
