Stolen! My Dad's matching numbers '72 big block :( - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

My Dad took his truck down to have some work done on it the other day. Within 24 hours the truck was stolen off the repair shop's lot.

If you live in Southern California can you keep an eye out for my Dad's truck, please? It has faded red paint (basically, orange) and the roof is white. The truck has a bumper stick on the tailgate. The driverside fender has been dented and the door has a crease on the front portion near the doorjam.

The truck is a matching numbers 402 Custom. It has mid-70's truck ralleye wheels on it with new tires. The motor is still fairly clean from the rebuild and the passenger side inner fender is currently out of the truck being sandblasted.

Dad had a factory AM/FM radio in it. We're in the truck for a chunk of change but it's so rare we just want it back

I will post pictures of it later for you guys..

BTW: Yes, we are going to sue the owners of the repair shop for the value of the truck. No, the truck was not insured against theft. My guess is the people that stole it will be parting it out. If you see any faded red 71-72s in the paper either for sale or for parts in the paper can you please call me?

how about smashing his nuts till they pop like little grapes then skinning huge flaps of skin up and dump rock salt under them, then after that hang him ubside down from his penis in the middle of a barn that you will finally catch on fire. oh and if he gets down from that have a minefield outside the location

seriously though it sucks that that has happened to you and your father. i know somebody who had his original owner (he bought) 72 cheyenne big block stolen, hope you find the guy that did it.

Sorry to hear that. I know how you feel man. I had my 2002 GMC Sierra SLE EC SB stolen from behind my house a couple months ago. And I live in a small town of about 6000! I never thought it would happen here.

Anyway, about 3 weeks after it was stolen, I got a call from the Culver City, CA police dept. @ 3 am asking if I knew where my vehicles was. Turns out, some crack-head loser from my area and his girl friend "wanted to see the ocean" so they stole my truck and drove to L.A. I was on the phone with the dispatcher while the officer was making the arrest, that was very cool.

Get this, the dude just spent 6 months in prison and was on parole for possession of a stolen vehicle. I should sue the dept. of corrections for letting the SOB out.

The truck was recovered unharmed minus $2500 worth of stereo equipment, tools, etc. but the insurance company had already paid me for the truck, so it's their problem now.

Sorry if i rambled, but I just thought you'd like to know stolen vehicles can be found unharmed.

i would suspect someone at the shop first. probably someone who worked on it! then came back... $@#$@#% bastards, i wish we were not so easy on thiefs. start cutting hands off and this crap would stop.

That really sucks! One bad thing about these trucks is that they are so easy to steal

Back in the day....horse theives were hung by a noose, i don't see much of a difference between a horse and a truck.

Last year a guy i know had his ford ranger stolen from a parking lot in broad daylight....and this is in a town with a little over 2,000 people in it. The police recovered it a month later about 150 miles from here. It was pretty beat up, and the theives abadnoned it after taking it off road and punching a hole in the oil pan, causing the motor to lock up.

I really like the solution offered by wmc mountain... the only thing I would add is to scoop his eyes out with an ice cream scoop and beat him severely with a length of chain before lighting the match....

That otta learn him....lol...

We are down in San Diego. Many stolen trucks head for the Mexican Border. We will kept a look out in this area. I hope the thiefs are caught and your truck is returned to you!

I live on an Air Force Base, and went into the gas station to pay for my gas. I came out and saw a guy reaching in the open window of my truck, and take my CD's. I walked up behind him, and as he turned around, I clocked him in the nose. He fell on the ground, and I hit him 2 more times in the nose. A bystander came and threw me off of him, and the lady inside called the cops. When they got there, they took me into custody, and I was charged with aggrivated assault, and ordered to give a written formal apology to the individual. I was then sentenced to 15 days extra duty (pretty much cleaning up dog crap at the kennels), and forced to attend anger managment classes.

I hope someone catches your thief, and makes sure he never gets the chance to steal again.

tyger, sounds like the 'scoopthepoop' duty was worth every hit. I'm glad you got some licks on their a$$.

When my truck was stolen/recovered many years ago, the courts deemed it 'not necessary' to prosecute the individual since their other crimes were more severe & therefore subject to harsher punishments.

That really pissed me off since I was forced to walk back/forth to work until I was able to buy another replacement vehicle. To add insult to injury, I had to pay to get my truck out of the pound including impound, storage, & towing fee's. I feel this exspense should have been paid for by person that committed the crime instead of the victim.

That sucks! I live in so-cal. too so i'll keep my eye out. Make sure you go out to pomona swapmeet on 8-24-03 , alot of stuff turns up out there. My buddy had his 67 camaro swipped a month later we're out at pomona and some guy is selling his seats and door panels, of course he said he didn't know they were hot, and being that we had seen him out there before we left him alone, he said he felt bad and offered to give the parts back for free, but since insurance already payed off he told him to keep them.
