Shift Knob Removal
I've got a new shift knob I want to install on my 84 K10 and can't figure out how to get the old one off without butchering it. What's the right way to get it off?

Re: Shift Knob Removal
The shifter shaft is splined and the knob is glued on. You'll have to pry it off, and it will most likely butcher it.

How about this, how hard is the whole shifter arm to remove? I might just snag one from a junkyard and butcher that one instead, then save my original..... |

Re: Shift Knob Removal
Old thread, but does anyone make a GOOD repro of the knob? I bought the LMC one and I think it's just one of those "Help!" packages with the generic emergency replacement parts. Looks nothing like the original.

Re: Shift Knob Removal
I would try local junkyards and Ebay for a factory replacement. You could just get the whole lever.

Re: Shift Knob Removal
I bought mine from classic parts of America, but be sure you check the size of the hole. I had to drill mine out before installing it

Re: Shift Knob Removal floor mount manual trans
I had a shifter knob, here recently. They are threaded.
