Power Brake Conversion Thoughts

Hi All, New to the forum really enjoying the talk and pics.

Just got a 62 C10, I would like to convert it to a power brakes but I don't have the funds to do a disc brake conversion at this time too. What's your thoughts on making the PB conversion but leaving the front drums brakes for now?

Are you thinking about building a dual res. system?

Problem with updating to a modern dual circuit master cylinder and booster set up is the proportioning valve won't work, you will end up needing an adjustable valve.

disc brake conversions can be done with wrecking yard parts for pennies.

If you install dual master resevour Drum/Drum power coversion.....NO proportioning valve is required. The proportioning is in the master cylinder itself and in the pedal ratio you select, 6 to one manual or about 4 to 1 power (by relocating the link in the pedal).

Check the FAQ, there are excellent threads covering conversion from single resevour manual systems to dual manual drum/drum and converting from single manual to dual power drum/drum.

Contact Captainfab on this board for the mounting bracket that make the dual power drum/drum job pretty simple and requires no extra holes in your firewall.

I am planning to install the dual reservoir system. I appreciate all you thoughts and suggestions.

Priority right now is cleaning up some poor wiring that has been done in the past, going over the safety items.

My 66 is power brakes with drum all round. Works well. I also used the bracket from Capt fab on both my trucks and it does make it easy. Works well.

For power drum/drum brakes, you'll want to use a '67-'70 booster and master cylinder. It will just bolt on with one of my booster brackets. Are you keeping the manual trans with hydraulic clutch or are you converting to an auto trans?

I'm picking this project up where someone else stopped... it has a 383 Stroker motor and a turbo 400 AT. Would the same booster and master cylinder work if I did the disc brake conversion on the front later on?
