my new to me 68 chevy
So I traded my 2004 gsxr 600 straight across for this 68 chevy. It has a 283 with an automatic.

Re: my new to me 68 chevy
Thanks guys for the kind words and encouragement. The bike was fun but so uncomfortable. I wrecked it once a year and a half ago, woke up in the ambulance cant remember anything about the wreck not even any of the vehicles that locked up their brakes in front of me. With two kids 4 and under it was time to get something a little safer. The plans right now are just to get it street worthy, so things like getting the back lights working and putting the different carburetor on it. I have so many questions about things that are probably basic to most people. Hopefully Lord willing I don't annoy anybody with the simple basic questions that I will have. I will take more pictures tomorrow so you guys can see what I am working with.

Re: my new to me 68 chevy
Thank you sir, I have been reading and looking at all the builds everyone does in amazement. I cant even fathom how to do some of the things these guys do on here. Heck I don't even know how to hook up the rebuilt carb that the PO threw in with the deal lol. But I will get it one way or another and get it to where I can drive it.

Re: my new to me 68 chevy
Fenders and core support as well. I think even the latch mech may need to be swapped as well. Someone with more knowledge than me will probably chime in. Welcome to the board. Just to keep the frustrations down you should use the search feature when ever you have a question. You can save a lot of time, and won't have people sniping at you. Everything you want to do has probably been done before on this site. If you can't find anything relating to your questions, then feel free to ask.

Re: my new to me 68 chevy
Not exactly. If your going with chevy then yes the core support and fenders would have to change. Personally I like the 68 fenders and grill options. Gmc however in 72 decided to to use 68 fenders in 72. So you could go with a 72 hood, 68 fenders and gmc grill but the core support would need to be changed.

Re: my new to me 68 chevy
Thanks! I took a digger on the sport a few years ago. Was lucky, not a scratch on me. Bike was trashed all the plastics were cracked and broken. Got to ride it home. Took it apart. Powder coated almost every last part and nut and bolt, made carbon fiber fairings for it. Cleaned up a lot of the factory junk that wasn't needed. Now I'm left with a really fast one of a kind.
Still love it! The hog was traded in for a 2014 street glide yesterday. That's actually my dad's hog. |

Re: my new to me 68 chevy
I wrecked mine on the interstate running late for work. Woke up in the ambulance with medicine in me already so no pain. Slid 150 ft according to the state trooper report. Bike wasnt totalled thank the Lord. I was sore but so thankful I always wear my helmet and gear. It saved my life that day for sure.
