350 in 1965 C20 without mods?
My little 283 might be on it's last leg. Anyone put a 350 to the existing C20 tranny without mods? Torn on this topic, crate or rebuild? Thoughts?

A 350 is a small block just as the 283 is. Everything will bolt right up as long as the 350 is a '85 or older. If it is a '86 and up, you will need a different flywheel for the one piece rear main seal. Everything else from the 283 will bolt up. I would definitely go with a 350 over rebuilding the 283

The only issue that may happen is radiator size if you are still using the stock radiator. I swapped a 283 out of a '63 for a 350 and it ran just a little too warm for me to be comfortable. A little bit bigger radiator and all was well. And I also agree with Captainfab on putting in a 350. Anymore you can get a basic crate 350 for less than you can rebuild that 283.
