200-4R I.D. Info
Hello Everyone,
I came across this the other day doing some research on 200-4R Tranny's. I don't know if it's been posted before or if it is common knowledge but I figured I'd share. Jim

I did a lot of looking around before installing my 2004r but I don't remember seeing that chart. Thanks for posting it. LockDoc

Re: 200-4R I.D. Info
I have a gear vendors overdrive unit and a turbo 400. I've been thinking about just having a built 200r4 built instead. I have a 496 with 700-750 hp/tq. From what I've read, you can have these 200's built to handle that sort of power. Is there alot of options for a stall converter? IE, I want to custom order a stall for my specific truck weight and intended driving. Are there shops that out there that can build one for me?

I found this when looking for options. Their 5X is rated up to 700hp and had from 2000 to 4000 stalls. Never seen a 200r4 built for that kind of power though. Is the general consensus that the 200r4 gears are better than the 4l80's even for trucks? |

The 2004r is a great transmition , art car at California performance transmition is the guy you want to talk to , and i highly sugest ordering from him , just a side note i had a huges converter destruct in a 2004r , had to have the whole trany gone thru ,That was behind a 460 ft lb 383 engine ,,, stick with b @ m or art car for a converter , at 700 ft lbs i would get the whole thing built by art car and ask about the "constant presure valve body"

Not sure about better than the 4L80, but I'd take a 200-4R over a 700R4 any day. The 200 does have 4 gears, unlike the 700 having bands. Great read on the 200-4R http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles...mission_build/

Try bowtieoverdrives.com.
Don't know for sure if they build for that much power, but certainly worth a look and/or phone call. p.s. I would post the link but I can't figure out how with this windows 8.....hate it!
