Old School to New Look

I bought a set of wheel and tires from a fellow board member yesterday; Boss 338 20x8.5 5x5 5.24" Backspacing. All four wheels are the same size, with 275/45/20 tires. I'm pretty old school and like the rally's with white letters but the new look is growing on me. The front wheels and tires will be put on this weekend. Unfortunately I'll have to grind down the hubs a bit to be able to seat the wheels properly or I might be able to use spacers? Thought I would share the pictures and welcome any feedback. It was a great two hour drive each way and I very much enjoyed meeting Chad (CC69Rat) and his dad.

Wow! What a very nice looking truck! I like the twenty inch wheels on our trucks. Can't wait to see the fronts on it. Keep us posted.

Re: Old School to New Look

Thank you for the compliment. Did you have to grind down your hubs to make 20's fit on the front of your truck? The truck drove and handled better with the new rear wheels and as a bonus my speed odometer was actually dead on. With the rally's and 275x60x15's on the rear it was 5 MPH fast.

I did not have to grind any. My wheels are Streeter Showwwheels. Same size as yours, but fit without any mods.

Mr Chevrolet your build thread is one of my favorites! Nothing better than passing down these trucks through the generations. Congrats and job well done.

Engineer gregh. Your trucks looks just as good as mine if not better with the two tone colors with the new rims. I think it looks sharp.

A real great looking truck! I like a tire with some meat in the sidewall but your truck does look good with the "new look" hoops. All the best, Dirk

3-5 drop all with springs. Tires are 245/45/20. They are an OEM Dodge Charger tire size. I can keep them rotated for optimum tire life.

I haven't seen a Boss 338 wheel yet that lets the wheel center cap work. My wheels fit fine other than the lip being to thick. I grinded mine down. Took about 30 minuts for both wheels.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Old School to New Look

Looks great on there. I'll see if I can find a couple threads on the hub modifications. I dont think it takes much at all to get them to work.

I have never actually seen a BB Super, this truck is incredible guys.

Re: Old School to New Look

I am confused so excuse my ignorance. Andy, did you grind the wheel or the rotor?
I am about to buy some 338's and came across this.
And what center cap? The one on the wheel? Not the grease cup right.

Yes the rotor it self, you have to grind it at a angle to give the wheel cap o ring enough room to slip on and lock into place. U could run a spacer say a 1/4" would be enough I would think I just didn't want to.

I like the wheels on the red stepper but somehow the two tone with mouldings looks better with the rallys. Just anoughter old school opinion.
