Re: My 1966 C10 SWB Fleet Build (Stacy)
Thanks, it'll be some work, but I have some big plans for it.
Found this on the inside With problems underneath... Needless to say pans and rockers on the way from Top Banana! While the interior is out, I thought I would take apart the gauge cluster and refurbish it.. Hopefully more to come soon

Nice truck to start with, I'm not really a "green guy" but that dark green looks really nice I think it would grow on me.
Any progress lately? |

Re: My 1966 C10 SWB Fleet Build (Stacy)
I just realized I had not posted any status updates in a year, I am terrible. I have been busy working and scraping by to fix things on the old girl. Here are some updates, all after the fact of course.
Picking up where I left off, I took her to get floors done. This is today, and very dirty, but very solid, and reasonable, as I can not weld well.

Re: My 1966 C10 SWB Fleet Build (Stacy)
Next, I had to replace the fuel tank, I was having leaking from the filler neck on the inside, and from the sending unit. So it had to go, hence the new one. Look at the old plastic neck vs. the new metal one. New sending unit. "one more 1/4 turn.... SNAP!" New broken brass fitting. I sweat off the old HD brass fitting and soldered it back on, no leaks.

Re: My 1966 C10 SWB Fleet Build (Stacy)
Did I mention the old neck had a galvanized chain link gate tube as part of the neck? Who does this?! No wonder it took forever to fill at the pump.

Re: My 1966 C10 SWB Fleet Build (Stacy)
One of my cartage drivers a work has a brother with an upholstery shop. So I had my old seat stripped, re-padded (with some extra foam), and covered in black fabric with black piping. For some reason it looks brown in the light though... Put it in. Started it up to leave work one day and broke by spring return bracket, had to southern-engineer one to get home. I drove very slow haha Ordered a new bracket and put it on, much more reliable

Re: My 1966 C10 SWB Fleet Build (Stacy)
I replaced an old NOS energy drink bottle with a new overflow tank, a little less spillage I think. You can't really see it, due to heat shielding, but I put in a new higher compression starter so it turns over instantly. Can't beat Powermaster in my opinion. Leaking fuel pump had to go, new one installed last month. I routed new fuel lines while I was at it, Instead of a filter between the water pump and timing cover, now my big 'ol hands can change it with ease.

Re: My 1966 C10 SWB Fleet Build (Stacy)
After I had a mech. oil pressure line leak on the ride home and blow out two weeks ago, I have been limited down to two working gauges. Only the speedo/odometer and head temp. Dangerous I know. So I got some new ones in this week and will be putting them in soon! I'm so excited.

Re: My 1966 C10 SWB Fleet Build (Stacy)
So, driving to work yesterday, I heard and felt a huge snap coming from the front passenger side wheel area. Truck was still driving and braking. But the stance had dramatically changed. Turns out it was a broken coil spring. I got new shocks in and have new springs on the way for a 2"/3" drop, just a little lower with a slight rake. I will post pictures when they are in.

Thanks guys! She is my daily driver, so my tweaks are usually a lot of little steps instead of doing big projects all at once.

Re: My 1966 C10 SWB Fleet Build (Stacy)
So the old spring actually broke in two places. The broken part equaled 2 full coils. CPP 2"/3" drop springs, OE length local parts house shocks, OE a-arms and trailing arms. I may play with the stance in the future.. but right now, I am satisfied.

Re: My 1966 C10 SWB Fleet Build (Stacy)
The shocks are Gabriel Ultras, you can get from Autozone, O'reilly's, ect. The ride is a lot more responsive, I get less body roll, even without sway bars. As for suspension travel, it is shortened, so it does ride a little bit more rough, so there is a little trade off. Shock relocator brackets would help with this a bit, but, I was trying to do this on a little less expensively and quickly. I do not find it to be bad, though. I feel more aerodynamic haha

Re: My 1966 C10 SWB Fleet Build (Stacy)
So, about a week and a half ago, I finally got around to pulling the old dash and trying to put in the new one.
Old set out. Then the wiring began.. About this time you start to think that it may be a bad idea with work the next day haha Getting everything up and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel

Re: My 1966 C10 SWB Fleet Build (Stacy)
I was going to upload a video of me starting it and everything working, but the conversion process from .mp4 to an approved file type made it look like garbage. So, here is a quick pick of it in, as of five minutes ago
