Lowering kit

Just wondering if a CPP 3" front and 5" rear coil spring with shocks lowering kit and their rear shock relocation kit would be a good combo or not. I would also like to go with the lowered spindle and disc conversion but that may take a year or two. Would there be any alignment issues with the 3x5?

Exactly how low do u want to be when you are done? The lower you go the more issues you will have getting it aligned especially on the front coils. I dropped mine 3" up front using CPP spindles. I had no issues and the alignment need just standard tweaking.

That's the hard part knowing how low to go. Just want to have a lowered stance and have it still ride nice.

I got the 3" 5" kit from cpp with shocks sway bars and also got the rear adjustable panhard bar , you do have to align the front end but the good thing is that these trucks have a very workable front end you just shim it out after you lowr it

what size tires are you running with those wheels? how wide are the wheels?? looks good. I ve the original wheels and caps on my 68' but the wheels are only 5.5" wide 235 is about a wide of tire will fit.

i called em all with the parts list that i wanted, lowering, disc brake change over, shocks shocks brts, trailing arms springs spindles sway bar w/brks, etc
anyway i bought all cpp stuff off ebay and it was 300 dollars cheaper, than my best quote !!!! alot more than that from a couple of them.

My front wheels are stock with 225/70/15 tires the rear wheels are custom made widened out to 9" wide with 275/60/15 tires

I called up Early Classic Enterprises last week and talked about what I wanted. I ended up getting there 4/6 drop kit, but substituted the springs to give me a 3.5/5 there was no issue with doing this at all. I already had some calipers from a 71 that I rebuilt and I found a new set of 6 lug rotors and MC and Porp valve on Cl locally.
I hope to get all this stuff on my truck this weekend.

My personal preference is to not go over 2 inch springs in conjunction with 2-1/2 spindles to try and maintan as much ride as possible, the lower you go with spring the worse it will ride and the less adjustablity it will have although they have alot of adjustment room.

Also on the rear my preferrence is 4" spring and 2" block , again trying to retain as much travel as possible.

think of it this way .... the more spring , the more travel.(softer) The less spring the less travel.(harsher). MY .02 cents worth.

Mine hit the stock rear bump stops I put aftermarket thin bump stops and mine rides better than it did stock height I like it a lot better and I live in a town that has NEVER ENDING road destruction ,,, er um construction (SAME THING) LOL

I bought the Hotchkiss 4/6 spring drop and install rear shock relocators. I didn't have to realign it or anything. It rides great. I will get it aligned once I get new wheels and tires though just to be safe.

You lowered it 4/6. With springs ? And did not have it aligned ? Well if you drive it a week the wires will be sticking out of the front tires , it pitches the top of the tires in ,,, they drive fine but will eat tires ,,,,

Ive put 700 miles on it so far and nothing wrong. As stated previously, I intend to get an alignment after I install new wheels and tires to ensure everything is right.

Finally got all the parts to lower the truck. Went with a 3x5 and got my parts from Performance Online. Still need to get rid of spare gas tank and replace the dock bumper in back. Tossed in a before picture. Took my nephew and I about 6 1/2 hours to complete. Hardest part was removing old upper shock mounts at rear of truck. In all honesty after we did the front end first I actually liked it on a rake. Guess I'm just old school! LOL

The previous owner of my truck put the CPP "kit" on my truck before I bought it. I hated it so much I swapped the springs for ECE's and the shocks for the same KYB shocks they use at ECE. The CPP kit was 2.5" spindles, 1" front springs and 5" rear springs. The rear springs were extremely soft and the truck basically rode on the rear bump stops 100% of the time. Needless to say it was not a comfortable ride. I am far happier with my current setup of stock height front springs, 2.5" spindles and 4" ECE rear springs. The ECE springs are a stiffer spring rate than the CPP's.

I've still got some distance to the bump stops but I guess it wouldn't hurt to cut an inch or so of them off. Truck rides really good and stiff but my former shocks were totally shot so anything new would feel better. I wanted to buy all these components elsewhere but POL had everything in stock or at least that's what I thought because they had it all for sale on Ebay. Lo and behold I got everything right away but the rear spring cups were back ordered so that took 6 weeks to get here. Held up the whole project. I just assumed that since they were on sale on Ebay that they would be in stock. Silly me!!!!!
