Shift Kit help
My cousin put a shift kit in a 700R4. From first to second it shifts very frim and lurches forward. but from 2nd to 3rd it sort of hits a neutral or slipps inbetween the shift (motor revs up), then goes into 3rd. Being a passenger in the truck I can't even feel it shift into OD. I wasn't there when he put it in, but he's positive he did everything 100% correct. Anyone else had this problem or know a solution?

My blazer 700R4 did the same thing,
I found out later from the tranny shop, that the mechanic that bought it from them, installed it wrong and was out of adjustment. I only drove it a few weeks, but in that short time I had burned up some things in the tranny and it had to be replaced. This time I had the tranny shop do it and they were mad at the other mechanic so they didn't charge me they charged him for his mistake. |

Mine does this too without shift kit. Funny thing is it seems to do it more while turning?

I have heard way way too many bad experiences with them. As far as shift kits. Oh yeah and they like to eat parts and brake things internally.
Guess I would buy a shifter from them but thats about the only thing I would buy from them. Last edited by MylilBowTie; 07-28-2003 at 06:20 PM. |

B&M shift kits will most of the time, kill a 700R4. They are fine in 350's or 400's, but I sure wouldn't install one in a 700.

Check out Team Chevelle on there bb in the transmission fourm and see what they all have to say about b&m. They have atleast 3 transmission builders that I have seen that posted negitive things about B&M shiftkits. Its only1/3 of a kit and its not even a good one at that.

Sorry I am not a tech, and they tossed all these terms to me and all I cared about was, that I ended up - not - having to pay for it. |

I guess TH700s need to be beefed up to handle a shift kit. I'm surprised mine has gone 136,000 miles with no problems. Of course, I can hit 80mph and still be under 2000 rpm! I hit 85 mph and I'm at about 2150rpm. At 65 I'm only at 1400. But it STILL gets 10mpg! This 305 is getting tossed soon. I was beat by a F*rd diesel yesterday!
