oil pan

im swappin a 5.3 4L60E into my 82 2wd. i've seen a lot of different oil pans used but i specifically wanted to know if the cts-v pan would work with the ac in stock location and not doing electric fans. Will i be able to move the motor far enough forward? Is it best to just cut the truck pan?

f body pans (98-02 Camaros) are real commonly used

He fbody pan has the lowest profile. I have one waiting to go on my lq4.

I'm pretty sure it will fit I have the complete set up from a 2011 erod engine haven't had the chance to check the fit but it should

Check my "69 longhorn ls swap pics", just a little down the page.I have some shots from underside, with the GMPP pan kit (Hummer H-3 pan). The nose of the chassis are very similar, between the trucks....& the pan kit was complete from Jegs for around 150 bones. It comes complete with gasket/hardware/pickup tube/windage tray, & dip stick for that money! You will loose a little capacity, but for a street dr, no big issue? Longhorn

Yes, that is the 1....takes a PF 48 filter. The pan holds 5 Quarts + filter. It might not be the ticket for a high RPM Bruiser, but should be fine on the street performance/cruiser, & the price fit the budget The pan does not hang below the crossmember, & has room to move, where you want your engine to 'set"....The caddy pan looked like a nice pc, & it would fit my app (slammed against the firewall), but the fit was good on the hummer pan, & the price was right on? Hi bh86, a very good bodyman friend told me many many years ago that the crossmembers from 67-87 would basically interchange. Yes tierod ends are different diameters through the years etc, etc, but my point is if a oil pan change works for 67-72 trucks, it should work for 73-87 trucks. Firewall style and location could impact you slightly, but there seems to be quite a bit of room. I installed a f body pan (98-02) and the forward edge of the pan in the sump area just touched the curved area of my crossmember but i'm running my engine and trans fairly low in the chassis. I'm using trailblazer ss factory ac compressor down low on pass. side and in the midst of mocking this system up now. Hope this info helps, good luck.

Airstream, did you opt to cut the cross member for clearance on the F - body pan? Just a thought, I did that on an S-10/383, with an old style 6 q truck pan? Same deal, she was mounted low in the chassis... longhorn

crazy longhorn, yes i notched the crossmember with my sawzall, will finalize this when i pull the cab and gut the frame for total restoration
