orignal e brake conversion?
has anyone converted the emergency hand brake to cable on their 55-59? trying to get some ideas. thanks please share some pics

Here's pics of how I did mine using cables and parts from Control Cables. I think my total expense was about $160, but I had no emergence brakes at all to start with so I needed everything.
The only thing I had to fab was the "hat" that the cable locks into at the floorboard. I used the original plate on the outside, welded a short piece of pipe that was cut at an angle to it, and welded a washer to the top. You have to enlarge the hole in the floor slightly. I used a short piece of the original rod to attach the cable to the handle. Control Cables will send you the form and you mark the lengths that you want. There's cheaper ways of doing it but I wanted to keep the original handle so this is the way I did it. |
