67-72 Trucks are Everywhere

This afternoon I drove my 71 over to the Camera Castle in Morristown, TN. On this 40 min round trip I saw at lest six 67-72 trucks. My co workers and customers are always saying that these trucks are hard to find. This trip proved them wrong! I grabbed this pic of one I saw sitting in a parking lot. I would've like to know more about but unforatuley I didn't have time to wait on the owner. Notice I took this pic sitting in my 71 and there is a K20 in the background waiting on the light.

You should visit Oregon and Washington state. There is one every mile.

That's what I imagine heaven to be like. In my smallish town of about 20k people, I think I can count the 67-72s on one hand. And one of them is a c30 dump truck I still see out working. Might be a very slight exaggeration but honestly around here I see less than 10 of the same trucks from this era.

most have been bit by the east coast rust monster and gone from here years ago its funny though if your looking you find them ....one of my friends works for the DPW in town thought i owned a house about a mile from where i live because there is a 72 parked in the driveway lol....I am fortunate to still be working and travel the US... Oregon ,Colorado Arizona NM and of coarse the low desert area Cali is the only place i will buy from .....they are as stated, every where you look, and still reasonably priced... shipping if you do your home work is cheaper than replacing inners and outers corners cab supports and on and on

Amen to that, Hell I have one just for yard art. Downside when you try to sell the price is low and the wet weather tears up the cabs. Had 68 for sale for a month and no real buyers.

This is an excellent example of why a 69-72 hood doesn't fit a '67-68 nose. It looks like the rest of the truck is also 69-72 by the trim on it. Still, it's a shame to see it just sitting there.

I would have to agree, there is 4 shortboxes within a 1/8th mile of my house including mine. It's pretty common to pass a few on a nice day

Re: 67-72 Trucks are Everywhere

I was at the swap meet sunday, I took my 70. We were walking the isles and within 200 feet of each other sat 4 67-72 trucks... in the 15 minutes we talked with a couple of the owners 2 more drove by... and that was in the middle of the swap meet.
there was a burb and a blazer in the show area around the corner.

Re: 67-72 Trucks are Everywhere

There are three around here that I have seen. I have yet to see one being driven on the road tho. More late 70's and 80's chevy's here. Any older than that and they've rusted away.

Same here in NJ....Very few 67-72 left on the road....the few you do see have all been restored. Way too much salt put on the road rusts them away to junk quickly.

Re: 67-72 Trucks are Everywhere

That's what I love about these trucks. People still love them and many are still working daily. Most people can't believe I daily drive mine. That's a 60+ mile round trip.

Yeah, there's plenty around here, but none of the owners seem to have internet to join here.

Re: 67-72 Trucks are Everywhere

East TN has is fair share of rust issues, but due to laxed laws concerning emissions and the lack of inspections, we have a thriving car culture. I saw close to twenty classic vehicles yesterday. They are definitely out there in strong numbers, you just have to keep your eyes open.

It's not that they are hard to find. It's that they are hard to find for sale in a reasonable condition for a reasonable price.

There are always a few on craigslist for less then $2000. In the past year I have bought 3 of them all for less than a grand.

I saw 2 at a local high school parked together. I see the younger generation has good taste!

That's a pretty good looking 68. I actually stopped yesterday to take some photos of a 68 c30 a few miles from work.

Re: 67-72 Trucks are Everywhere

There are 3 others within 10 square miles of me still working at some capacity. Considering the population density that's pretty good. I drive all the way across ND for school and see quite a few parked out to pasture. On the local classifieds sites there is a 67-72 at least every other page in the classic autos section.

There are about a dozen within less than a 1 mile radius of my house. Including mine.

I'm with slikside. Whenever I'm in SD I see alot of these trucks.

And I think the one that commented on the 73 body style is on track. If you see a good one, you better grab it.
