A/C wiring

Hi All,
I bought the Dirty Dingo AC high mount for sanden compressor but was wondering how to wire it up. I have searched around but couldn't find the site where someone had said how to wire it up. My 86 came with A/C and I was planning on using the same system but with the sanden. Will the two wires (green and black) that went to my old compressor work or is there something else I need to do?

Any help will be much appreciated!

It will work with the stock wires all you need to compressor to run is a hot and ground at the clutch so the stock system will work

I'm not runing it through the PCM, trying to keep it simple, thanks guys!

Not running through the PCM it is real simple.
The compressor will have a ground wire on it that can go directly to the mount for a ground.
Hot wire comes from a 25 amp switched wire.
Run a hot wire to the on off switch in the cab...from the other side of the switch out to the compressor. I believe on my sanden it is blue wire

Thanks Iceburgh, got another question for you. What fitting/connections did you use to hook up your A/C lines to the sanden compressor? Is there an adapter I can use for my stock connector fittings? I found some on ebay but I don't know which will work best.

Does anyone know how to wire a sanden compressor?? My compressor only cam with one black wire attached???????

The single black wire is for the A/C clutch. You want to provide 12 volts to it when you want the AC on. Depending on exactly what setup you have, it can be wired different ways. Generally, for safety, you want to wire the 12V to the A/C clutch through a low and/or high pressure switch (or trinary switch if you're running electric fans).

So if I give the two light green wires ignition hot and hook the dark green wire to the black wire on the sanden will this be the correct wiring?

You need to hook a test light up to the power wires and see which one cuts on when you turn the AC switch on/off on the dash. This will be the wire you want run to the black wire of the compressor. The wire connected to the acumalator are one dark green and 2 light green. One of those is power in and the other should be power out. You should tie into the power out side for the compressor. I know it's for a 71 chevy truck but the principal is the same in the link I posted about mine.

The dark green wire that went to the old compressor will go to the single black wire on the Sanden compressor. The light green wire should get 12V when you turn on the AC in the dash controls (there's no need to add any new wires for that).

So I'm in the process of wiring my AC compressor in my 85 c10.
The wire on the right side is what originally went to my factory compressor. The wire on the left, (light green)I'm not sure about. It appears that it was never hooked up, and my ac worked before the swap.
I don't have 12v, on the original ac compressor plug, when I turn it on in the cab, but I do on the light green wire.

I just got A/C going on my swap and this is what I found. The light green wire gets power when you have the A/C on. It flows through the low pressure switch on the dryer/ accumulator, THEN through the dark green wire. On that A/C wire connector the light greens are tied together at the terminal, you need to leave them that way. I had the exact same problem on mine until I traced both the dark and light green wires.

It works like this...



Trace the light green wire from your low pressure switch on the dryer and see where it ends. If its not tied to the light green wire that you're getting 12V to, tie them together. It appears that they are not because you are testing the voltage at one of them.

If they are tied together, perhaps you have a bad low pressure switch.
