So, after shifting my bed around, moving fenders frontward or rearward, Im still not set on my wheelbase. My front wheels are perfectly centered in the wheel openings and the rears are too, however my rear fenders are so beat where they meet the running boards that Im not certain where I need to be. So that being said, please post a good side profile pic of your truck along with your wheelbase measurement. Trying to see what is about perfect for having the front and rear wheels centered. Thanks guys.

Stock 3100 short box wheelbase is 116 inches. Down a ways http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/docs...let_Trucks.pdf Fun stuff on a stock truck there.

truthfully if the wheelbase is set and it sounds like it is, I'd center the wheelwells on the tires so they looked perfect to me and make the rest work.

I'm in kind of the same boat as I am using a long wheelbase frame with a 125-1/4 wheelbase and stretching the cab 9-1/4" and using my short box that I have. That will be real interesting to get right and I may mount the runningboards and box before locating the axle.

Here is my side shot. Stock 59 frame and springs with 74 K-10 axles mounted in same location as beam axle and stock rearend, at 116". 28" dia tires.

The rear wheels on a stock AD sit forward in the wheel well. So the stock wheel base really doesn't do you any good. I would just set the bed and fender where you want and go from there.

OK let me re phrase the post. From the info on the net I know the stock 116" isnt what I need to center the wheels in the fenders, however, my rear fender is so beat up that when I set mine up for mock up (as best I can anyway) with everything centered my wheelbase is at 116, no bueno! I would love to see pics of guys trucks that are at 117-118 or so. Whether they are on a S10 chassis or whatever doesnt matter to me, just want to verify what wheelbase looks best under some good sheetmetal.

Ogre, good point. Looking for 47-54 SWB AD trucks, thanks.

My ongoing truck projects: 48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six. 71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant. 77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
