1964 C10 Hercules Diesel

Hello fellow diesel fans. I was not aware this section of the board existed.

Little info on the engine. Its a 3.7L Hercules Diesel. VE pump, Original GM application, SM465. Found while looking for a 4bt. Was originally in a Chevy delivery van. Thinking maybe a repower for a 6.2.

Here are a few photos of the build.

Yes, Its painted Cummins Beige, Sue Me!

Little bit of CM modification.

Re: 1964 C10 Hercules Diesel

I'm currently running 2.92s out back from an old big block Cadillac. Not real happy with this setup. I would like to find a NV4500 or maybe a 3500.

Kudos. I like setups like this everyone does a Cummins. I like it a lot I went the custom 6.5 route. My build is in this forum as for the trans did you only want a manual? I building a 4l80e full manual no electronics. Awesome job I just love how it came out. Hows the power?

Cool truck and build. Most lowered trucks run gassers. Nice to see a lowered coal roller!

Re: 1964 C10 Hercules Diesel

Thanks Dudes! I recently swapped in a NV4500 out of a 92. Upgraded to the hydro clutch (very easy) and love it. Having the extra gear is awesome on the highway. I still lug pretty hard from 2nd to 3rd. Ive got the 3200 governor spring I need to install along with turning up the power screw. We will see if that helps any. If not I will look into replacing the gears in the rear over the winter.

Re: 1964 C10 Hercules Diesel

What intercooler are you using? Do you have any pic's of it?
I would like to put one on my truck and still have room for an AC condenser and leave the battery where it is.

Its a Garrett that came with the engine. Its mounted in front of the radiator on the backside of the core support. I cant seem to find the pictures i took while i was installing it. But here it is.

it measures roughly 24"X11"X3"

I like this. What's the power like? I'm in the process of gathering information for a swap. Right now I'm considering a 4bt, but I haven't put money on anything yet.
