Third door rocker replacement

Been off the grid a while...I finally bought the third door rocker panel for my '70. The one on my truck is missing entirely, including the inner. The bottom of the door pillar (between front pass and 3rd) is also mostly missing. I spent several weeks last fall "practicing" welding on my '79 K20 and feel I'm ready to attack this project. If anybody has done this repair on their burb and has any pictures that would aid in the reconstructive surgery I would really appreciate if you would post them. I have never seen an intact 3rd door rocker on one of these trucks. The one on a '72 I owned was missing also. Thanks in advance..

Here is a couple of pictures of what its supposed to look like underneath the 3rd rocker from the factory. And one of a new rocker installed.

Re: Third door rocker replacement

Awesome pics. Thank you. Got them saved on my computer. Got my work cut out for me on the lower pillar. And recreating the areas with the captured nuts. If I didn't drive this truck so much year round I would try to get that area to patch in from a donor truck.

Great pics thanks! I've saved them too! If only I could get my buddy's VW bug done and bring my Suburban home!

Re: Third door rocker replacement

If you look at my build page you can see some more photos of rocker replacements. The whole process isn't too bad. Just a little time consuming.
