you guys gotta see this !
CL find... lister claims it is "FACTORY BUILT"... I know GM made some rare trucks but I have a hard time seeing that being factory built.

Re: wait... wait .. you guys gotta see this thing!!!!
While not common there were a number of modifiers that extended the cabs and frames for customers. Some used full size back doors and others cut down the rear doors. There were even some that just extended the cab without adding any doors. But they were not "factory built" just a product of factory authorized modifiers. For those that enjoy the little extra room from a gas tank removal imagine a 42" cab stretch.
Fugly is somehing you really might want to reconsider. There are several of these truck sprinkled though the board membership and if you don't like them move on.

The first truck is just an unrestored version of the second. It's beat up is all. I'd rock either of those if I had the space, room, time, money etc lol

Not as bad as a panel, or with today's vehicles a cargo van.

Re: you guys gotta see this !
Insanely cool truck but can you imagine parking it? Especially if it had non power steering.

Re: you guys gotta see this !
No harder to park than a long bed crewcab if it has power steering but ouch my arms if it doesn't. SS Tim hit it correctly. Those were dropped off at conversion shops much like Vans were and often the same shops the same way Van chassis get dropped off at motorhome shops today.
You ordered it from your dealer and it was dropped at the conversion shop for the mods and then picked up and delivered to the dealer. I looked at a stretched version at a local wrecking yard about 20 years ago and it was pretty crude at best when the upholstery had been removed. It looked like they had used door skins to do the stretch and added some aftermarket rv windows for quarter windows. The welds were rusted out down the sides while the rest of the cab was in fairy good shape. It had tags from the conversion shop on it but I don't remember what they were.

Re: you guys gotta see this !
I want one of those trucks so bad.... I missed out on one in O'Neill, Nebraska for $1500.00 back in 2002. I could kick myself for not buying it that day. I drove back with cash 2 weeks later (of course I did not get the phone number off it the first time as I was just passing through) and it was gone.

Re: you guys gotta see this !
I always wonder why guys who build extended cab c10s will graft two cab together or modify a suburban to make one dont just buy one of the Scott builts and just modify the rear windows on the rear doors to make it look more uniform. This way it seems 90% of the work is already done. I think this would be way easier than the alternate. Just my opinion.

Re: you guys gotta see this !
In my opinion it's worth the wait. All the time, money and labor you will need to build one I still think it's a better deal to find one of these. They pop up here and there and they seem to be fairly reasonable when they are for sale.

Re: you guys gotta see this !
That truck has been for sale for a few years now. I had people sending me info on it right before I bought my current truck.

Re: you guys gotta see this !
It's going to need some rust repair from what I can tell.

Re: you guys gotta see this !
Who's truck is that second one? Does it belong to a board member? I would drive it just like it is.

While most people are quick to condemn the looks of the second door it must be remembered it was for a very practical reason, parts. Stock parts make it easy to service in the field. Myself I'd be interested in seeing the "B" pillars up close, they can't be that hard to make. The grafted cab with the RV windows sounds like a Pacific Truck Body & Equip. Co. of Portland OR.
