Re: please identify
A couple years ago I was looking for a good set of boots in the junkyard near me that had about a dozen of these trucks. I saw both types of boots as well as both types of floor mounting brackets. The type of boot that you refer to as the oddball seemed to be more common in the later year trucks, but the mounting hardware on that one seemed more common in the earlier years as I recall. I couldn't figure it out. I have an theory that the oddball boot may prevent binding of the retraction mechaniam.

Re: please identify
The one with the tag looks like 29 K 71, decoded is July 29th 1971 and was manufactured by Robbins. Do the others have tags? I just spot check my stash of belt sets and I think it's a manufacturer thing. The set in my truck now as a tagged with the date code 11 H 72 or June 11 1972 and is the same as your odd ball one, the tag says Robbins. One example in my stash is a parchment set with a date code of 11 A 72 or January 11th 1972 and the tag reads Irvin. Looks like I have sets for both 1971 & 1972, some of Robbins and some of Irvin. These are the two companies GM used to manufacture seat belts.
