temp guage sending unit?

Is there a 3/8 temp gauge sending unit that will work with the factory temp gauge?
The summit racing double hump heads on my engine are set up for 3/8".
According to the summit tech line aftermarket gauge sending units will not work with the factory gauge.
Thanks!

Not that I know of. It's pretty easy to drill the 3/8s hole out and tap 1/2 threads to match the correct sender. You can also put the sender in the intake.

See post 15 in this thread. He (brian mac) turns down the originals and rethreads them. I think he charged me something like $20.

Thanks for the replies!
the Edelbrock intake location for it is right next to the water neck kind of tight, also its a used intake with a steel plug in it that may not come out. The heads are already on the block what about steel shaving getting in the water jacket when you drill and retap? I guess you could try to vacuum them out?

yep, just tried to remove the plug, no dice, heating with a torch might do it but I'm not going to try it.
