wheel well area on 72 burb
I apologize up front for this and if it gets deleted I understand but I am looking for this spot at the right rear wheel opeing behind the quarter panel as the previous owner did such a wonderful job at repairing this area with a chunk of ABS plastic as a patch. My fab skills are nowhere near like most of you can do. If anyone can help it would be appreciated. I have checked the parts section and of all the burbs being parted out they are all shot due to rust

whodaman
Im not looking for the outside lower quarter panel I am actually looking for the peice that is in the wheel well area that is cut up. I already have that panel on order. I am looking from just above the drain plug hole all the way down. I should have outlined what I am looking for, which I have in the new photo here. Sorry about that and thanks for the help anyhow |

Re: wheel well area on 72 burb
There is no shortcut to the rusted out inner structure. I have not seen any inner structure quarter panel pieces for sale from any of the vendors so these pieces have to made. Clean off as much rust as possible & see what you have left. The panel that hangs down behind the wheel is a fairly straight piece so its not very hard to make.

Is there any way you could possibly get the dimensions (or maybe a template of it would work) for me so maybe I could try to fab something even though it wont look anywhere near what its supposed to look like. I only have to work with what I have left on that piece and not sure what it is truely supposed to look like also what gauge metal should I fab that out of See my fab skills are a big fat zero but willing to try anything once It would be much appreciated By the way looked at your build thread. AWESOME, wish I had all those those skills |

Re: wheel well area on 72 burb
I have basic measurements for you but you would be better off tacking your outer quarter panel patch in place & doing measurements for how big the inner piece should be. Every one of these things is different. For example, I end up re-making every rocker panel piece I install on 67-72 trucks. There are just too many variances.
In case you cant read the measurements they are as follows: 8 1/2" high by 3 3/4" wide at the bend.
