What do you guys think?

This is a gorgeous 69 that I found in Colorado. I'm loving it, it is supposed to be a mostly original truck out of Tennessee. I have the original books and brochure that come with when bought. It is a inline 6 with a 3 speed manual. Its got some pretty cool touches, there is a license plate from 1969 Tenn, used as a patch in the floor. What do you guys think? The paint is awesome and won't be touched. The suspension is custom, they heated the coils. haha...

Re: What do you guys think?

Looks fun. Can't ask what to pay here, though. I'd go through it safety wise (suspension, brakes, shocks, steering, maybe those coils) and drive the wheels off it!

Re: What do you guys think?

Honestly wasn't even asking how much to pay. That is my driveway its in. I already bought it. Was just curious what others would pay for something like this, mostly to register rarity, "coolness", interest, etc. I love the hell out of it and can't believe I found it. Does anyone know if there are many like this one around? I haven't seen any but I ain't in the most populated area.

VERY COOL SCORE!! You are one lucky guy!

I used to have an old rattle-trap C-10 that ROCKED! 3-on-the-tree,
came with a Toyota radiator bungeed in, circle-track distributor & a 2 BBL.
Heck, I even had to borrow a motor!

Bugger screamed and chirped tires and turned heads!
Without mods.........well, it did get a radiator.
THE COOLEST TRUCK I've EVER OWNED
Homely as sin but...never had so much fun!

Plus, you're right...the patina job is nifty and you now OWN it!
Fix it to start, stop, be safe and leave it a hotrod gem.

Keep that baby-cakes and have a blast...

Re: What do you guys think?

well what you see is what you get, its a 69 short bed step side, wood bed in actually fantastic condition and a gulf oil advertising paint job. the paint job is what would make it more rare than the rest. gulf oil memorabilia have been known to bring good money. The step side I think would contribute to rarity as I haven't seen hardly any of those. original inline 6 with 3 speed manual. neither in the greatest condition might I add.

Re: What do you guys think?

I love it! If the Gulf logos are original (or at least were put on when the was new) it is even cooler. I lot of guys are painting logos on old trucks and distressing to make them look old (myself included), but if that is the real deal, is it even cooler!

Either way, it is an awesome truck!

Re: What do you guys think?

Thanks guys for all the compliments! I will get more pics of it soon. hopefully this weekend. As far as the paint goes I'm leaning more towards it being "original". Not a professional opinion by any means but it does look legit. I'm going to take it to a custom paint shop and see if they can't tell me more. I wont be doing much to it, fixing the underbody rust, the door bottoms are rusted pretty good so I'm going to try and repair that without screwing the paint up. The suspension will get done right and the powertrain will get freshened up. probably a different tranny and a rebuild on the inline 6. Until I want more power. haha.

Re: What do you guys think?

I only know what they go for here in TN but since this wasn't actually in TN I'd have no idea out your way. Depending on what's been done and how someone feels about it they go for $2-12,000 here. Depends on if the guy calls it an old truck, a classic truck or a project truck. So, what DID you pay? If you don't want to say I'm sure we all understand.

Cool truck!!! To me it looks like a fauxtina paint job that was done well, but its hard to tell from here. Either way, its a nice ride.

Re: What do you guys think?

Oldcane, I gave the guy 3500. And I say gave it I mean it. he was about to take my first offer but I gave him his second demand considering the miles I drove, what time it was, and the mans honesty. It was pretty much exactly as described and a man that is completely honest about a vehicle he is trying to make money with is hard to come by. Lets just say I was grateful.

fauxtina... I havent heard that one before. It could be... I'll be finding out soon hopefully. There will be more pics. The bed has been done in the last ten years, probably less. It still has the majority of its clear on top and all of it underneath.

It's pretty common these days, and there's nothing wrong with it if it is, but original shop trucks are even cooler than fauxtina'd shop trucks.

Here's a fauxtina'd door logo I did a few years ago.

Re: What do you guys think?

more pics as promised. She is turning into a rust bucket the more crap i start chipping away from it. That's ok, I guess it'll just take a bit longet to restore everything under the paint. Which by the way is def a fake. You can see the sanding marks when the sun hits it right. Darn. Still real cool looking tho.

Re: What do you guys think?

Don't even know what the size of the tires are. I will soon tho as one has a bulge in the tread. Found that out when taking them off to release the brakes that seized on me while at the parts store getting points, condenser, etc. They are quite wide tho. It is definitely a rust bucket, every panel has rust. I'll run it till it starts shedding panels, then replace em. haha.
I picked it up in the boonies outside of ft collins. I don' know if it was ever for sale any where else. This guy had it only since '10 if I remember right.
