TBI engine question
I have a really good 350 from a 95 chevy I want to put in my 67 truck, what do I need to make this work?
I know I have to change the intake, but can I use the older vacuum advance distributor? Also the mount for mechanical fuel pump is on the block but looks to not be drilled to mount a pump, would I have to put an inline electric pump in for this to work? |

Yes you can put a regular intake on the TBI motor just have to elongate the two center holes on each side to bolt the intake down. Yes if the area where the pump goes is now open you need an inline electric pump and yes you can use just any dist. that you choose to run with any other small block Chevrolet motor. Jim

Why not just hook up the TBI? By the time you do all the work to get rid of it, you could just make it work.

I agree with markdtn. You should just do the full TBI swap. I have done one myself and it wasn't too hard to do. I referred to THIS thread. It has all the info needed. These old TBI motors are very reliable.

Ya actually I was looking into this today, I think you guys are right. I will grab everything from the truck for the swap.
What about bolting a th350 behind it? Will I need to change anything? Flywheel,etc?? The trans from the donor truck is shot. |

Yes, a TH350 will bolt behind it. You will need a PROM for a manual trans truck instead of a 4L60E or you will get codes. From what I remember, the harness is not easy to separate on a '95. You may be faster to buy an aftermarket harness. Depends on your electrricalk skills and patience. Do keep the flexplate as it is needed for the 1-piece rear seal engine. You can keep all the accessories if you want to go serpentine belt (although I would dump the CS130 alternator for a CS144). If you don't want A/C, you can buy a delete pulley on Ebay or similar.
