Cheap set of tires?
Can anyone recommend / post a picture of a cheap set of 15" tires they have ran on there square before? i have a stock 87 swb 2WD that i need a new set of 15's for to pass inspection.
Im not sure what i want to do with the truck yet, stock tires, low profile rims/tires or a set of classic muscle rims/tires. it currently has a set of 31" tires with mud grips on them.. makes it look like a 4x4 but I'm looking for something a bit sporty for now that i can do burnouts with Ha Ha. Thanks for looking Cory |

Re: Cheap set of tires?
I like the cheap GoodYear Wranglers from Wal-mart for cheap/stock look. Last I looked they were on sale even for only $74.50 per tire! (yup, just double checked here)They only come in one size and that's 235/70/15
I recently picked up Cooper Cobras from Summit Racing in 255/60/15 rear and 235/60/15 front for a lower/sportier look with the drop spindles and flip kit going on my truck. Cheap tires too, but not as cheap as the Wal-Mart specials above. EDIT: My old '86 My '76 with another set of the same tire

Re: Cheap set of tires?
Good Year Road Huggers or Cooper Cobras are low end tires. I've used both. The Coopers wore out faster than Road Huggers on burn outs.

Re: Cheap set of tires?
haha all about the burnouts!!
I think i like the look of 275/60 R15's going to price them. i know i won't get anything for 75 here in canada. cheapest tire i could get for my car (14'' Rim) was $105 each. Will definitely be checking out the wranglers, i know our walmart has no tires for sale but we have canadian tire which is the next cheapest thing. |

Re: Cheap set of tires?
I have had Goodyear Wranglers a few times on new trucks from the factory.
Those tires were O.K., but they had visible bulges or dips in the sidewalls - I was told that this was ("normal.") I also have those bulges and dips on my current BFG commercial tires on my 83 C20 load range E. BFG T/As look nice and wear well but the aggressive tread is a bit much for the highway and probably doesn't help in the city either. Overall, I like General Grabbers for tread design, ride, and no dips or bulges. If you are undecided and need to pass inspection, I always look for used tires in that situation. I don't know about NL, but around here craigslist always has some for sale, and though people often want too much for them, I find that a lowball offer usually works because there is little market for used tires. I find that Tire Rack is a good source for general price information on tires. |

Re: Cheap set of tires?
I happen to like Kelley Safari's. They lasted forever and were dirt cheap.

Re: Cheap set of tires?
I'll also vote the 235/75r15 Goodyear Wrangler Radial. At about $80 a piece you'll not find a better deal. I run them on my Colorado, and am seriously considering a set for my '84. I assume they'll be discontinued soon, not many trucks on the road that use that size anymore. They only come in that size now, I assume there's a fleet somewhere that contracts Goodyear to keep making them like the 205/70r14 postal Wranglers.

Re: Cheap set of tires?
the wrangler radials weren't in stock and are listed as discontinued!
Ended up settling for a motomaster total terrain ap/2 i think was the name on it.. 104 per tire (225/75/15) not what i wanted but good enough for now! |

Re: Cheap set of tires?
I used those too, ran great on the 87/88, 4x4
The warranty is great for a flat.
