Wheels on a 70 GMC 1/2 ton
Does anyone know what size wheel lug pattern is on the 70 GMC 6 lug??? Truck is 1/2 ton swb step. Also, can the rear axles be changed to a 5-lug pattern without changing the whole rear unit?
Jason is looking, pricing, ect for new wheels, and we know we're going to upgrade to disc brakes in the front. What we dont know is whether to stay with the 6-lug on the disc conversion, or go ahead and switch everything to 5-lug. Which is the most efficient? Seems just doing the 6-lug conversion would be more simple, but we'd both appreciate your help and comments, and wanna say THANKS in advance. Billy G

I never can remeber the measurments but, you will have more options as far as rims if you switch to 5 lug. It is my understanding that you can swap out the axles from a 5 lug rear pretty easy, but I have never tried it. I'm sure someone will know for sure on all this.

Five lug axles are longer then the 6 lug axles so they would need to go to the machine shop to be shortened. I just did the Early Classics six lug disk conversion and I am real happy with it. The spindles and everything else were top quality. I would highy recommend Early Classics kit for the conversion. Disk brakes are the only way to go. My truck stops great now.
