Long Weekend....new paint
Took advantage of the long weekend and a patient wife to repaint my 66'. First pic is how it started. Was like this when I got it. Hated the flames. Next series is my faux-tine. Lots of time to do, but I think it came out great:

Re: Long Weekend....new paint
That looks great! I bet you get a whole variety of comments from those that know you. I bet some are almost funny from those not familiar with fauxtina.

Re: Long Weekend....new paint
WOW now that's a transformation. I think it looks Awesome.... I think that would be awesome for a DD than have nice paint to have to worry about scratches and bugs and road rash. I'd be proud to drive that. Of course you'll have to tell us how you did it...

Re: Long Weekend....new paint
Thanks for all the kind words. Still needs to be fine tuned, but overall I love it. I did the Trucks! TV show method. Painted it black, then the reddish-brown, then the turquoise. Brushed on the black and brown, and sprayed the turquoise with aerosol cans and the mixed turquoise. Then a lot of wet sanding. Started with 320 and finished with 600. Smooth as silk to the touch. And about that bumper, I just can't seem to get it right. I was so tired from all the sanding, I just wanted it back on and didn't feel like messing with it. That will be next weekend.

Re: Long Weekend....new paint

Re: Long Weekend....new paint
I was worried about screwing it up, but it really was very easy. I kept thinking " this is gonna ruin my truck", but after each step, I grew more confident. My truck was pretty clean, so no body work was needed. My truck was in primer and I just went right over the primer. I have some rot in some places, but I just left it alone. Covered the rot with as much primer and paint as I could. The rust kinda of fits in with the theme. For a few hundred bucks and a lot of time, I can't complain.
