2004 Chevy dually bed on a 1985 C30?

So I scored (free) a homemade/shop built steel flatbed off a 2004 3500 chevy 2wd and I was hoping I could mount it on my 1985 C30 cummins project.

I figure move the mounts around or maybe get some 2000+ mounts to weld on my frame.... I don't know?!?! can someone shed some light on this for me?

I seen a 2002ish? Bed on an 80's pickup so i'm sure it can be done. Measure lots and take a step back to compare tire to bed height. Probably gonna have to adjust accordingly.

I'd assume some fab work, especially if you plan on keeping it a short bed. For the cost of materials, you definitely made out.

If it is a flatbed, they often get mounted with basic plates that tie the truck frame to the frame of the flatbed by simply bolting them together.
Some flatbeds get mounted onto a contoured wood middle layer, and clamped to the frame (couple plates across the frames and some bolts or allthread to clamp it). Look under a commercial box truck for that style. Its a semi-floating design, intended to keep the frame flexable and help prevent cracking that the 1st method of solidly bolting the two together could potentially cause as the box or flatbed would make the back half of the frame stiff as all can be, leaving the front half to do all the flexing.
Does mounting type matter on a pickup? Probably not, lately I've noticed that most flatbeds now are solidly bolted to the frame. In any case, you may need to fab up some new plates, or cut some wood for the sandwich. =-)

WOW, looks it, suspect the 4 pad eyes are so the crane can pick it up, lol.
Start measuring and see what you can do. Don't know about the mounts underneath, that'll be on you. I do suspect that bed may be wide for what you want. (Kickout running from front to back looks like for a dually pickup, SRW, you may want narrower.)

Now, you can decide how to procede. Sometimes the truck frame is the best place to set it down so you can work on the bed. Or make the decision to throw it on CL and build what you want from scratch.

my father had a dodge flatbed mounted on his ford, the guy that did the instal laid c channel across his truck frame then put the flatbed on top of the C channel welded it up we never had a problem used it for quite a few years and it was abused really, had the truck way over loaded many times

the reason he used C channel was the ford frame was wider then the one on the flatbed, was cheap and easy too

they give you an idea on what that one weights? it might be on the heavy side for your truck and kill MPG too

Yea it is going on my 1985 dually project truck; the guy who built it was planning on putting a sled on the bed with welding equipment that was able to be removed. The truck it was on had it welded directly to the frame and they did a piss poor job with the removal so I have some holes to weld up.
