rear sway bar

Whats up c10 family... i wanted to see if y'all could help me..where can i get a rear sway bar for my 68..did they make these trucks with rear sway bars from the factory....or is this strictly an aftermarket product..your info would be much appreciated...

Thay never came on a C10 from the factory and I'm pretty sure not on the
C20's and C30's as well but can't be 100% sure on that one. I know Addco and Hellwig make rear sway bars for our trucks.

Camaro rear sway bars will work and work real well if you have coil springs instead of leaf springs. Do a search here and find the post I don't have it saved and aren't computer savvy enough to tie links together. I think it may be in the truck tech or the FAQ's on the top of the page in the upper left hand corner. Look there first, you should spend some time in there any way. Jim

rear sway bars not a factory option at anytime
they are readily available from jcwhitney lmc broters and all the local vendors can get them for you

67-72 conventionals "C" or "K" trucks were not offered with rear stabilized bars. However from 68-72 the P30 SRW step vans did, something to to look into if you see one at a yard. Of course the later 73 up pickup trucks C20-30 offered rear stabilizer bars as part of the Z81 Camper Special equipment packages.

late eighties camaro and firebird cars work good .i have the firebird ones on mine i will post some pics tonight when i get home. easy install just drill a few hole and bolt up

I have an IROC Z bar in mine. It was the biggest that the General used for these cars. I have dropped the rear 4.0 and the front 3.0 and also run a 1.25 bar up front.
Using KYB shocks this truck is more fun to drive than my Vette

I have an Addco front and rear on my Suburban. Since my exhaust runs where the rear should have been mounted, I modified the mounting. No pics, the Burb is at the shop.

I believe the Iroc Z bar is 25mm., use along with a 1.25 bar used on c20/30 trucks up to 87.Poly mounts and new poly cab bushings will make it handle decent. Rob from No Limit makes a great kit and has some great advice on how to set up these old trucks.
Mine is set up as a cruiser but handles decent for what it is.... A long bed POS with a 496.

I had to modify a bit to make it mount up nice. Its not perfect, the links should be vertical, but to fit and miss everything I had to angle them. It does stabilize the truck a lot, especially on highway on ramps. It has a weird feel to it, when you corner hard you can feel the rear of truck sort of lift up. Feels like its going to skid until you get used to it.

The bar does limit the amount of power you can apply in a corner without losing traction.

I thought I read on the "make it handle" thread that No Limit had a rear sway bar but I can't find it on their website. I'm interested in running one too.

I have front and rear from CPP. I have heard that one should not use a rear one if truck is lowered. Anyone know if this is true and why? Mine is not on road yet so I don't know. Good luck.

don't know what you are referring to about lowered trucks and no sway bars.
Like stated mine is lowered and I have no issues. Run a bigger bar in the front to help balance out the truck.
The Iroc bars mount to the rear axle and have end links that mount to the frame. Keeps everything nice and tight out of the way.
When you do lower make sure you change the track arm or sometimes called a panhard bar I use an adjustable one.

If you are too low I could see having issues making one fit. Mine is only lowered 2", so I didn't have any issues.

I still want to get a fatter bar for the front.

We used the rear sway bar from CPP works great! My truck is lowered 2 1/2 in the front a 4 in the back

I used the Hellwig rear sway bar on a GMC I built a few years ago. You can definitely tell its there, but just be forewarned it will cause the truck to be really tight feeling overall, and at times make it feel like it's pushing a little bit. I guess by locking down the rear with the swaybar in place it doesnt allow the front to plant and take a bite (?) Maybe I could have had the front springs too tight .. I'm no pro. I had Hotchkis springs on the truck. All I can tell you is it was on rails. The rear bar is definitely worth the investment if the rest of your truck is setup accordingly.

The 3rd and 4th generation F-bodies use the same rear sway bar with differences in mounting. In addition GM used numerous sizes over the years. This means that not all Trans Am's, IROC's and Z-28's have the same size bars. Some years there were more than one size depending on the various packages offered by GM. That being said the size differences are only 3 to 4 MM of each other for the performance cars so you may not need to search for the absolute largest one.
When I got mine there were 4 to choose from in the wrecking yard. Fortunately I was armed with knowledge and calipers so and I got the largest bar in the yard for my Burban.

Finally had my Hellwig installed on my C10 long fleet and on the 60 mile drive home after installed can tell the difference in handling. Truck is overall tighter in handling if that makes sense.

Going to have to look into the Hellwig bar. My truck is too low to mount the bar over the axle and trailing arms.
