Question about Tilt columns...
Hi All,
I am wondering if the Tilt column (automatic) from 67-68 are the same as the rest of the years (including the Vans). I recall that my original 67 steering wheel did not match up (in diameter) to the 75 Van column. In other works, the round hub of the wheel was either smaller or bigger then the hub on the column. Can anyong shed some light on this?? thanks... Ahh, a note from GMCPaul!! The factory truck tilt columns were only available in a 69-72 truck, not the 67-68s. All the steering columns are the same size, tilt, non tilt, truck, van. So, now this brings me to my next problem. I want to keep my 67 wheel, but I also want to have the Tilt Column. So, the problem is the hub of 67-68 trucks are different then the 69-up trucks. Anyone solved this with their 67-68??? Last edited by John Fabris; 08-04-2003 at 12:53 PM. |

Yes, the splines are the same, but what is different is the outside diameter of the 67-68 column and steering wheel. I don't have pics to help explain this, but if I put the 67 wheel on the van column, where they both meet, are different diameters. Kind like the difference when you put a dime flat onto a quarter....
