1971 Chevrolet K20 burb into a K30 rock burb family hauler.

Made a deal on the burb yesterday, pick it up Sunday morning.

Yes I know it has a gmc grill po installed that from a collision repair. I kinda like it, gonna leave it. Currently the truck runs and drives so the mods will be over time, one at a time so the truck isn't down huge amounts of time.

I was born in 1971 and have been looking for a 71 burb for a while. Found a 71 pu initially but now found this burb I'm really excited about the build. I am an ase master certified GM tech. I am retired now and just play with my toys in my private machine shop.

The build; I have a new crate engine LS3 hotcam Mtr 520hp, stage 4 4l80e trans, rebuilding a np205 with new timken bearings seals and gaskets. Rebuilding a dana 70 front axle with new spicer bearings seals gaskets king pins and u joints 4.10 Yukon gears and Detroit locker, rebuilding a 14 bolt full float rear with new timken bearings seals and gaskets 4.10 Yukon gears and Detroit locker rear disc brake conversion, New skyjacker 4" all spring lift kit, and new BFG 35" all terrains. I have a 73-87 burb safari full length roof rack that I will retrofit. Will build from scratch front and rear rock crusher bumpers with winches. Build full side rock crusher step bars too. I have a safari snorkel kit for a 73-87 burb I will retrofit as well.

Plan on putting late model burb seats in it that I already have too. Paint will be themed like a 71 cheyenne super pu, white roof, med blue, white stripe down side then med blue at bottom again.

It's going to be an interesting build. That's a nice parts truck. Do you plan to use it's longer springs? You might need a lift as the "K" - LS conversions I've seen leave little front axle-to- oil pan clearance. You might consider cross over steering as these 4x4's can have some bump steer.

Dave, yes its a nice parts truck I agree. 47k miles driver. its a shame cept I want the burb more lol. im not a crew cab kinda guy, so it wasn't that hard for me. what kinda truck you runnin dav?

Not using the lift from the truck. Using hydraulic assist steering. The ls3 crate motor has a corvette low profile oil pan so clearance won't be an issue like on a ls truck pan.

Looks like a great project/starting point. Any idea what the seats that are in in now are out of? I'm interested in how the late model burb seats will fit too.

Is it me or is the roof raised up?
