Control Arm Bushing Question
I'm in the process of replacing my upper and lower control arm bushings with poly bushings. I have the old bushings out and I've got one upper mostly done before stopping for the night. I'll be back at it tomorrow.
My question is about the new bushings seating all the way. I have the outer shells seated as far as they will go. When I grease them and the bushings, I can't seem to get the new bushings to seat all the way against the outer shells. There's about an 1/8 of an inch between them. Is this something that I should worry about, or will it correct itself when I torque down the nut and washer when they're one the truck?

Re: Control Arm Bushing Question
It should work itself out. Not sure how you're doing it, but if you put the metal shells in the freezer overnight they will shrink just a fuzz and be much easier to press in if you're quick at it. The c-clamp press they rent at part stores works well for the job.

Re: Control Arm Bushing Question
I have the metal outer shells and the bushings themselves ik the freezer. No one around here has the bushing press to rent. I'm making do with a ball joint press tool, a vise, and a hammer.
