I'm hooked
My first car was a '66 Impala. The two door with no center pillar (we called it a "hard top convertable" back then). Had the 325 hp 396 with a quardajet, but only the powerglide tranny. Bought it the summer after high school in 1970. Had to sell it half way through first year in school. That was as close to a hot rod as I've been (till now). I've had two sports cars since then, a 1981 280ZX and a 1995 Miata. They were both fun (miata still is - my wife's ride), but not a hot rod.
Just got back from taking the dog for a ride and picking up some fast food. Drove "the truck". I have not been anywhere since I bought it that I can REALLY get on the throttle and enjoy the high performance 350 and 4:11 combination. The '85 power steering unit has almost no road feel and when combined with the big stock steering wheel it feels like Truck just smoothly glides around corners. On the highway its a little too sensative - think about a lane change and you're there. Also, clutch pedal is pretty heavy, especially in traffic in town. And its a little too loud (Dog barks when I light it off . . . . .) Did I mention it runs hot in traffic? All that said, it is SO COOL to motivate about in that *****in' soundin', smooth runnin', STRONG pullin', 36 year old jewel in the rough!! It needs work (latest discovery - 3 of 4 floor supports pretty rusted but, from underside floor itself looks OK), and until I can get new rubber on windows so the cab stays dry it takes up a big chunk of garage, but I am just pumped up every time I drive it. I don't even see the work as WORK. Its just ways to improve Truck and keep it going for a good, long time. Brings a grin to my face every time I think about it. Sorry for the long post, just had to share what most of you have known for a while - they're the heartbeat of America. Chevy Trucks. Still grinnin'

I love driving mine too......i got hooked about three years ago and i doubt i ever wont be hooked

Yep, you are hooked! My Longhorn is a ride to remember, but that 6 1/2 yr old dobie "pup" doesnt ride with me in that one.....the d@mn dog is spoiled to AC! Yes, she knows she is special little red dobie(I should have named her Queenie!) If there is anything better than a good old truck......its a d@mn good dog

I've had a few fun Chevies over the years, but never kept any very long
 . But I've owned my 72 K20 for 26 years and counting... They do kinda grow on ya! With a mild 350, mine isn't fast, but it still sounds great when those big q-jet secondaries open up! Glad to hear you are enjoying yours, and hope you do for many years!

I can't wait to get my back on the rod and drive it again. Love the thing.

i had a 72 restored years ago and well i got a little drunk and toasted it now my son got me into it again as we are restoring the 1976 and now ive acquired a 1972 pretty soon ill have the bug again and ill have a small rod lol
