my clips are completely gone also. I would like to see the ones from ace hardware. I doubt it has the formed metal to fit the emblem. Just a crew is what I am thinking. We will probably have to remake the sheetmetal piece from scratch.

I will be attending the street rod nationals next weekend. If I run across a vendor that has them I will let you know how to order a set. There should be plenty of people selling parts for these trucks.

Re: 1953 chevrolet 3100 hood emblem clips

Are you talking about the front stainless 'Chevrolet' ornament or the 3100 badges on the sides ?

I have an earlier '48 cast metal center ornament that has 4 bosses and screws for mounting, and the '51 had a stamped stainless center piece with 4 steel mounting pieces welded in place - these rust apart. I replaced the steel with some ss flat stock and tig'd in in place with some silicone bronze rod - it doesn't req' a lot of heat.

Re: 1953 chevrolet 3100 hood emblem clips

yep, that would be the pieces I need. Not the little round clip on for the stud. I don't have anything but the emblem. Everything in the back has long rusted away. My emblem is not really worth messing with, it's really pitted on the front and has a couple of holes but it was free and a buddy of mine gave it to me. It will likely become wall art and I will look for a better one to put on my truck.

Re: 1953 chevrolet 3100 hood emblem clips

The ones crossfire84 showed should work but Running down to ACE and going through those pull out drawers above the bolt bins might be pretty productive. Or stop by Fasteners if there is one locally with one of the emblems. A search shows that Honda uses a similar clip on some hood ornaments but no idea of the size.

Reviving this. Did anyone make any good headway finding hardware?

Re: 1953 chevrolet 3100 hood emblem clips

no luck finding replacement tabs. I need the correct emblem for my '50. I found one for a later model but the steel tab pieces have rotted away. I need to make some or figure out a mounting system. I just have way to many other things to worry about right now. The emblem is very low on the to do list.
