stock fill location with underbed tank...possible or no?

I've tried searching this but it doesn't seem like anyone has done this. im interested in doing an underbed tank but would like to just run rubber hose from the stock filler to the tank (for flex) .....is this possible or would there be venting/fill problems?
if it won't work i will consider (and already know) all the other options, but i kinda like the original fill location.

i have a 68 long bed with wood

With the tank in between the rails in the back you would not be able to hide the hose and get enough angle/drop to get the fuel to the tank.

I don't think it'd be possible without being a major PITA.

A better option would be a side mounted tank behind the cab where some of our trucks had the auxiliary tanks mounted. The driver's side would be a simple affair to plumb. The passenger side tank would tank a little more ingenuity, but I bet it's possible.

there have been a few trucks built like that, I think international harvester even did a few from the factory that way.
I'm planning on doing mine when I get around to installing a rear tank. I'm going to use exhaust tubing and a couple short sections of rubber hose. it will move than likely be slow filling.

thanks for the opinions. looks like it might be better to just put it in the wood bed. i dont find that the most convenient, however i dont want to alter the truck in any other way.

Camaro tank with filler behind the license plate is another option if you don't want the filler in the bed (I didn't). Do a search, there are a bunch of guys who have done this.

if you're dead set on the stock fill location why not leave the stock tank in place and save yourself a bunch of money that really doesn't need to be spent

Re: stock fill location with underbed tank...possible or no?

some people such as myself still want to keep the factory fill location but want an underbed tank.
I like to figure out how to make things work that others can't or that they are to lazy to figure out on their own and on top of that I flat out do not want the tank behind the seat. I've moved them before and welded up the filler hole but this time I want to do it a little different.
my tank has rust in it and I'm converting to injection so the stock tank wasn't going to work much longer anyway

I am planning on moving my tank and leaving the filler neck in the cab. I think 1.5 exhaust tubing will work just fine. by the way I've been bending exhaust tubing for 26 year's and this looks real easy.
