Help with engine options for 67-72
I was curious what sbc engines were available for 67-72 (displacement) I know 327 was available in '67/8 and 350 was in '69 and 400 in '70+
The reason I am asking is i found a '68 for sale with the owner claiming everything is original with a 350 cities sbc. I didn't think the 350 was available in a truck until 69 some who is smarter than me please help....i know most of you are

Re: Help with engine options for 67-72
Pretty sure the 350 came out in 69 and a 400 sbc was not available in these trucks.

Re: Help with engine options for 67-72
The 400 was a small block, not a big block. It came out in '70.

Re: Help with engine options for 67-72
The 400 small block wasnt available in these trucks. The 396 400 was a big block that was available. It was called a 400 big block but was a 396 in 68 and 69, and a 402 in70, 71, 72. It was even badged as a 400 starting in 70

Re: Help with engine options for 67-72
Or just pull the casting # from the back of the block behind the DS head and the Suffix code on the boss in front of the PS head. Then you will know for sure !!!!
