Help with a parts list for LS1.

Im trying to get a parts list for a future project. (65 chevelle)
I got a hold of a 2000 LS1. It only came with engine no harness or computer.
I have many junkyards in my area.
Since I'm in no hurry what should I start looking for?

Re: Help with a parts list for LS1.

The builds and FAQ should be able to give you a start on a lot of it. You have obvious stuff like a trans, ECM, wiring harness/fuses/relays. Then things like exhaust manifolds, modding the driveshaft, getting a motor mount setup.

Not gonna be able to give you a simple shopping list, since much of it depends on the exact path you want to follow.

If you start with the above and the resources here, you should be able to get yourself a good list of all the major parts you'll need, and where to find them. That stuffs all pretty easy, you really don't need us until we nail down what combo you want to run.

Then its the little stuff like gauges and senders, fittings, etc that we can hash out with ya.

Its easier than it seems; start with the big stuff like I said. Once you know that, you can connect the dots. For example; once you know the trans your going to run, and what motor mounts you want...then the driveshaft length, header options, trans wiring, and trans plumbing will start to fall into place. Follow?

If you wish, start on page 1 of my build, and get yourself some coffee. I did every aspect of my build from frame to paint and wiring, and tried to detail as much as we could with part #'s. I have more documentation as well if you start to get specific questions.

Re: Help with a parts list for LS1.

The biggest decisions to make would be:

1. What transmission?
2. Headers or manifolds?
3. Stock ECU vs aftermarket ECU vs carbed
4. Will you be using A/C? Power steering? (It looks like the accessories are missing from that engine.)
