Yards near Atlanta area?

I'm new to Georgia, been in NY my whole life. The lack of rust on trucks down here is awesome. Anyone know of any good Scrapyard's in north GA where I can look at some old Chevy's? Once I get more established here I'd like to buy a C10 project to tinker on and drive.

All the good yards I knew of are gone ,pull a part sometimes has a few but they get picked apart FAST .We do have good used parts vendors on this board though and several are here in Ga .

Re: Yards near Atlanta area?

Yeah, most of the good 'walk through' yards are gone from this area.. Occasionally you'll see a truck at a pull-a-part, but it gets scavenged pretty quickly.
But, there are a lot of these trucks around, and it's pretty easy to find parts locally on craigslist and on this board. One of my favorite things is going in with a couple folks on a parts truck and splitting the stuff that's needed and selling the rest. If you're patient you can almost get parts for the cost of hauling crap around.

Welcome to the area, and let us know what you're looking for.

Re: Yards near Atlanta area?

I drove around today and saw a 63 C20 for sale. Long bed step, 283/TH350.

I am actually looking for a 3spd on the column truck, 1960-1979. Somerhing for 3,000 or less. I don't mind I6 or V8, I just dislike automatics in an old pickup.

If anyone knows where trucks like that are sitting, let me know. I'd love to take a look st then, lot of free time currently.

I love the 3 speed on the column. Plus, it's its own anti-theft device.

Re: Yards near Atlanta area?

I live in Lawrenceville. Truck I saw today was in Jefferson. I am most comfy anywhere north or east of Atlanta.

Re: Yards near Atlanta area?

A good friend of mine just called me about selling his 1972 Chevy truck project .He has been collecting parts for it for quite a while .Its a 4x4 short bed stepside with a 4 speed . I can put you in touch with him if its something you would be interested in ,his price is $4500 . If I didnt already have too many toys I would be on this one .

Re: Yards near Atlanta area?

There's a black primered pickup sitting for sale on the side of Highway 20 just south of Conyers. Right year range, not sure of the transmission.
