Progress Pictures

I thought I'd share some progress pictures.

What i started with:

After installing 3" lowering rear leaf springs and 2" lowering spindles with disc brakes up front:

New wheels and tires:

The new wheels are 17x9 Ultra Type 164, 6-lugs. The tires are Proxes ST. The front tires are 285-60R17 and are the same diameter as the old tires (235-75R15). The rear tires are 305-60R17 and sit 1.5" taller than the older wheels which give the truck some of its rake back.

Now, if it only ran as good as it looks

Thumbs up

Looks Really Good PloreOSU!!! Put the same $$$ into the drivetrain as spent on suspension and wheels and I'm sure she'll run as good as she looks!!

I was going to say the same thing Randy. Those rims changed the whole look of the truck. Looks awesome.

confused

You have 6 lug wheels but list as 72 gmc, please clarify? I thought all 1/2 ton 71 & 72's had 5 lug?

Reguardless, you show us how we can take a new purchase regular truck and make it look better. Keep up the work and keep us posted on rear disc plans.

Thanks for the nice comments. The bad thing is that the truck is a 20-footer. The paint is pretty dingy up close and all of the chrome is pitted. I've got a few rust areas under the door openings and the bed has a lot of surface rust. The camera hides all of that so it looks a lot better in the pictures.

I'm hoping to pick up a rebuilt 700-R4 and get 3.73 rear gears and a posi installed in a few months. If my company's stock doesn't tank before December (again), then I should have enough money to pick up a GM Performance Parts HT-383 when my options mature. Then it will be time for --->

Cheyenne10, its a 72 according to the trim and the VIN #s on the cab and frame, however it came with front drum brakes and 6-lugs all around. Some people I've talked to think this is really fishy while others I've talked to say this was an option here in the NW for farm trucks. It was originally sold in Oregon City so it could have been a farm truck. This truck originally had heavy duty rear springs and I think that rear bumper is factory for towing. Either way, I decided I liked 6 lugs and kept the front end that way. I'm probably going to install the rear discs when I get the rear end work done so I can have the rear end shop turn down the axles if needed.
