I'll be joining the 47-59 crowd
So I picked up this 54 over the weekend for my new shop truck, 350/700R bagged, etc. It has the gas tank in the bed and the air compressor tank under the bed. I think the gas tank would be better under the bed. My question for you guys is if with the gas tank under the bed is there still room somewhere for the air tank underneath? Right now the air tank is where a under bed gas tank would go. It would be nice to have my bed emptied of all these items. Your expertise and guidance much appreciated.

Air tank will mount fwd of the rear axle inside the frame rail next to the driveshaft if you get a long skinny one. look at member way2lo2 aka Borris. he does a ton of bagged trucks and helped with mine.

Re: I'll be joining the 47-59 crowd
I took a look at the area behind my bucket seats and the seat backs are actually at an angle and would allow for a tank at the bottom (on the floor) BUT I Have a center console and that might prevent a single long tank in that area. Maybe 2 short tanks, one on either side of the console?

Re: I'll be joining the 47-59 crowd
47 and partial 48 trucks shared the panel and suburban tanks which were square and mounted under the bed in the front right corner.
I would not run air tanks in the cab. There is plenty of sapce under the bed between the rails and driveshaft and leave the space behind your seats for stuff like tools, rags, speakers, groceries, etc. A much cleaner look than to have tanks and a bunch of air lines and wires to deal with. Once the system is installed, there is virtually no maintenence ( other than cleaning the air compressor intake filter occasionaly) and out-of-sight-out-of-mind is a better way to go in my opinion.
