Street Freak c10s
Just wondering if anyone out there has or has pictures of a 73-87 chevy done up in a 70s to early 80s style(before pro street and pastel colors took over)? Street Freak style would be best but mild is ok too. I am thinking about doing my 84 up this way but I may just buy another truck to start building something this style with.
I just want to see some true early hot rod c10s. Pictures of adds for parts specific to c10s of that era are cool too. I don't expect much response or even a positive one but any help would be great. I just really dig the style and craziness that happened back then. Thanks. |

Re: Street Freak c10s
OK, just to clarify, when someone says "Street Freak", this is the style I think of:
Is this what you're referring to? |

Re: Street Freak c10s
Yes and no I've also seen the super shackled in the back slammed in the front cars/trucks also called street freaks. So really either. I guess you could also say street machine but I don't like where in the 80s it went from trippy cool paintjobs to easter egg colors and splash graphics.
Think about the trucks where the van craze of the 70s spilled over into trucks. I've got a few hot rod and other assorted mags from that era that have a few trucks I really like. The Stull custom promo truck, The butcher truck. |

Re: Street Freak c10s
Ah, I gotcha. Well here's a few from that mid 70's to early 80's era. They may not be be exactly what you're looking for, but still have some neat period ideas:

Re: Street Freak c10s
Here's a few of my then brand new 76 C-10. I posted a thread a while back about this truck, "That 70's Truck" or something like that.

Re: Street Freak c10s
I love this truck. Do you happen to remember how the quad headlight conversion was done and/or what parts were used? I've seen a few of these trucks from that era with that trick and have thought about doing something similar to mine...

I don't see why you couldn't fab up something using parts from say, a 1977 Monte Carlo, they had stacked headlights.

Re: Street Freak c10s
Do yourself a favor...surf eBay for 70's truck mags...you can get them for cheap, full of great feature trucks and vintage ads.
Bryan, LOVE the bubble window!

Re: Street Freak c10s
The red Shoebox is what most folks call "gasser" style.
Through the 70's, it was all about jacked up rearends with big honkin' fat tires out back and skinnies up front. Nobody tubbed anything, just jacked it high enough for the rear fenders to clear the tires. Don't know that I've ever heard the term "street freak". Kinda conjures up images of a crack whore, but what do I know? |

Re: Street Freak c10s
Remember the old CAR-Toons magazine...that is what the "Street Freak" look is all about...fat tires out back, jacked up, skinnies up front, big engines, wild paint, etc.. Trosley is an amazing artist, love his work.

Dude, I would not have changed that orange stepper one bit. Except maybe some side pipes or smokestacks. And a dragon mural. Aw, yeah...
