Windshield wiper blade change

I stopped in to have new wiper blades at a chain, asked for help installing them, only to have a plastic insert fall out of the old one(rotted), and the new ones don't fit. They slop around. What can you do to make them fit or where do you get some that fit?

Re: Windshield wiper blade change

You need the little plastic adapter insert; I think most come with them.

I used ANCO winter blades. They come with the little doodad to make them fit the old arms. Anco makes a couple other styles that also come with the doodad.

I bought mine at pep boys.

Yeah, I think ANCO are the only ones with the doodads. Check the package before you buy, they aren't always in there. I also think they are only in the 12" size (not 13"). I get them at Walmart - cheaper than auto stores.

The ANCO are the only ones that I could find. I had the same problem. Found some on eBay really cheap and them work great!

Re: Windshield wiper blade change

Once again, this forum saves the day, its raining today, and I was able to salvage the insert from the passenger side, cut some thin aluminum and inserted it in the passenger side with two flat tooth picks. Seems to be good for now, but I am definitely checking out all of your suggestions while out and about. Safe journey's, these trucks are an adventure.

Re: Windshield wiper blade change

Couldn't find ANCO blades anywhere (Pep Boys, O'Riley, AutoZone, Walmart, etc.). The model number that fits is 31-13 (or 31-12). Finally checked out Napa. They have their own brand. Model OWI NB13 is the one that works....

Re: Windshield wiper blade change

I ended up using some "cut to fit" blades which worked perfect. I think they were 6mm wide.

Amazon sells the Anco 31-13 for $6.49 shipped. I just ordered my 2nd set.
