Not too heavy, IMO.
Just enough to stick to the road.

That's 20 lbs heavier than my 47 3100 when I had the 454 in it. It weighs 3044 now with an iron block 5.3.

Re: What does it weigh? I'll tell ya!
as stated previously when deciding what hp motor to throw in a 47 to 59 pickup
these trucks are not very heavy compared to my 310 hp, 5200 lb, 09 sierra extended cab just a ton less ![]()

I'll have swing by the Farmers Co-Op and get a weigh-in.
The built on camper shell should add something, eh?

Re: What does it weigh? I'll tell ya!
I just went through the scales at the local landfill in my 55 2nd. With me and a ~3/4 tank of gas they read 1.86 ton (3720 lbs).

My 09 Crew Cab 4x4 weighs 5500 lbs, My 02 longbed reg cab weighed 5050, compare that to an AD truck.

Re: What does it weigh? I'll tell ya!
ford is making the aluminum f150, my sierra has paper this steel that gets dented from leaves falling
maybe they should revert to making these old trucks again with new drive lines to get good gas mileage ![]()

Re: What does it weigh? I'll tell ya!
These old trucks have to aerodynamics of a brick. I doubt there would be much, if any fuel savings with a modern drive-line.
Not to mention the safety factor. Bear claw latches, crumple zones, air bags, stability control, 4 wheel anti-locks, etc... All those things add weight. I'd rather get in a wreck with my new truck than an old one. (I'd rather not ever be in a wreck to be honest) Of course the old ones are a heck of alot cooler than the new "vanilla" ones. |
