What izzit & where does it go

Pretty sure it goes up by the hood latch(48 GMC) or in the grill area somewheres. Only thing is, I have all that together and nothing seems to be missing.

It looks like a brace and since the holes look threaded I'd guess it goes on the back side of the panel to reinforce it. Probably real close to the hood latch.
