drop spindles or shackles...
I'm ready to lower my 86 for better handling and ride. I understand when lowering the front with springs it affects the suspensions geometry and angle so drop spindles from what I hear are more sufficient. For the rear I thought to just add lowering shackles. How much trouble and what tools would I need for drop spindles ??? Only want to drop maybe 2" in front and maybe 3" at the rear.....I do have there's 2500 heavy duty model, not sure if it makes it harder or not, eight lug hubs....

I had a C20 before it became a K20.
First you need to decide how far you wanna drop it, and you have to include the new tires height if your going that far. Second what do you really want to do with the truck afterwards. So depending on how much you end up doing for the front a flip kit, or relocating your spring hangers will be the way to do it. You can drop a C20 just as low as any C10, but a 4/6 on a C10 is a 5/7 on a C20. Plus all the things you can do to increase the handling of a C10 works great on a C20. Before I went with a K20 I was going to do up my C20 with a sectioned cross member, relocated a-arm pick up points, and C10 springs for softer ride, and more travel. This way I could have a soft sport ride for the street or off-road. Sort of like a Raptor lite. To the above I could of sectioned the frame for more drop or do a Z, add in 3 inch C30 drop spindles, and trim springs for the right height. The rear a flip kit, and relocation brackets would of been the order of the day. |
